My wife and daughter are the best part of my life. As a general rule, my family and friends are the greatest blessings of my life and they bring me great happiness and fulfillment. I hope that the sacred relationship I experience with my family and friends is something that I can share with all of you at Visitation Catholic STEM Academy. I find an encounter with Jesus Christ in my relationships with others, and hopefully, we will all encounter Christ in a similar way at Visitation.

Personal interest & a short personal bio:

This will be my 4th year teaching and my second year at Visitation. Prior to teaching at Visitation, I taught in the Kent and Puyallup school districts. I attended All Saints Catholic School from Pre-K through 8th grade before attending public junior high and high school in Puyallup. I have a B.S. with honors in psychology from the University of Washington, where I worked at the Behavioral Research and Therapy Clinic (focus on Borderline Personality Disorder research) and in the Social Cognitive Development Lab (focus on children’s cognition research). I also have a certification in K-8 teaching which I obtained while working in the Puyallup school district.

In school, I participated in basketball, volleyball, cross country, track and soccer, so I love being able to help coach some of those sports here at Visitation. My favorite thing about teaching at Visitation is the dedicated and supportive staff, and how much the students care for and help one another. In my spare time I enjoy reading, music, camping with my husband’s family, playing with our dog Nala, and (of course) grading papers.

If you were to walk past the first grade classroom, you would see students working together in groups, singing educational songs, hands-on learning, living out our Catholic Faith, and learning in all academic fields. Our classroom is bright with bulletin boards, welcoming, stimulating, energized, and a room of students building friendships.

I have been teaching at Visitation for the last 6 years and I continue to love our small school community. The families, students, and staff are all very welcoming. Each year I am excited and thankful for the opportunity to teach first and second grade at Visitation Catholic STEM Academy.

In my spare time, my husband and I are chasing after our curious son, Hudson. He is quite the little stud. We have a new bulldog named Stella. She just turned one! It has been fun watching Hudson and Stella’s relationship grow.
